What should I do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Morning sickness increases the amount of acid in your mouth, which weakens your tooth enamel and can wear down your teeth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our advice:<\/strong>&nbsp;rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash and brush your teeth 30 minutes later. If brushing your teeth makes you feel nauseous, try changing the flavor of your toothpaste, using a toothbrush with a smaller head, or brushing your teeth at different times of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why are my gums bleeding?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what\u2019s known as pregnancy gingivitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your mouth can be affected by hormonal changes, and some women develop inflammation of the gums, which can cause bleeding when brushing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our advice:<\/strong>&nbsp;get regular professional cleanings. Your dentist may recommend additional cleanings during your second and early third trimester to help manage gingivitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What can I do to support the healthy development of my baby\u2019s teeth?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your baby\u2019s teeth begin to develop between the third and sixth month of pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our advice:<\/strong>&nbsp;eat a balanced diet to support your baby\u2019s development.
