Humanitarian Action in Senegal

Partager

Marie Gairaud, receptionist, and Cristina Seixas Figueiredo, assistant, both employees at the Ardentis Dental Clinic in Vevey, share with us their recent humanitarian trip to Senegal.

They left on April 7th, 2019, heading to Dakar with over 130 kg of luggage to distribute to children in various places that were to welcome them.

In the photos below, you can see a pilot village where volunteers take in street children to provide them with a shelter and a place to live as a community. Thanks to this village, the children are fed, learn to read, write, and work, with the aim of becoming independent.

They then visited an orphanage and a primary school, to which they donated more than 400 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to raise awareness among children about oral hygiene and teach them brushing techniques. Their demonstrations were met with great interest and amusement. The journey ended in Peyckouk with a visit to a kindergarten where the children, unfortunately, lack almost everything. They were particularly touched by the many toys and clothes kindly donated by Ardentis staff.
