Why is it important to consult from a young age?

Early dental care helps establish good oral hygiene habits and prevents the development of cavities or orthodontic issues. The earlier your child is monitored, the more comfortable they will feel at the dentist—and the better their smile will be protected in the long term.

What dental care is offered for children?

At Ardentis, our experts support your child with gentleness and a teaching approach, ensuring a positive experience from an early age. The care we offer covers all aspects of oral health, from prevention with regular check-ups, brushing advice and fluoride application, to restorative treatments such as cavity care or fissure sealants, while also closely monitoring the growth of the jaws and teeth. When needed, we adapt your child’s care using techniques designed to enhance comfort and peace of mind, such as computer-assisted anesthesia (The WAND), nitrous oxide sedation (MEOPA), or, in some cases, general anesthesia—so your child can be treated in the best possible conditions, with complete confidence.

Children’s Dental Appointment Procedure

  1. A reassuring welcome : Helping your child feel at ease from the moment they arrive.
  2. Oral health check-up : Assessment of the condition of the teeth and gums.
  3. Preventive or restorative care : Gentle cleaning, fluoride application, and cavity treatment if needed.
  4. Personalized advice : Clear, age-appropriate guidance for you and your child to maintain good oral hygiene.

Recommended visit frequency

From the appearance of the first baby teeth (around 1 year old), an initial consultation is recommended.

Between 2 and 6 years: an annual check-up helps detect cavities early and guides parents on oral hygiene.

From 6 years: regular visits (1 to 2 times per year) are essential to monitor the eruption of permanent teeth and prevent misalignments.

Frequently Asked Questions about Children’s Dental Care

At what age should your child first visit the dentist?

It is recommended to have a dental consultation as soon as the first baby teeth appear, usually around 1 year old. Early visits help monitor dental growth, detect potential anomalies, and establish good oral hygiene habits from the very beginning.

Why are baby teeth important if they will fall out?

Baby teeth play an essential role: they allow your children to eat properly, speak clearly, and maintain the space for permanent teeth. Decayed or damaged baby teeth can have consequences for overall health, future dentition, and even your child’s social interactions.

How can cavities be prevented in children?

Prevention involves brushing twice a day with age-appropriate fluoride toothpaste, maintaining a balanced low-sugar diet, and regular dental check-ups. At Ardentis, additional preventive measures such as sealants are offered, which are highly effective against cavities.

Are dental treatments for children painful?

No. Thanks to modern techniques, dental treatments for children can be performed without pain. At Ardentis, pediatric dentists use various approaches:

Digital anesthesia (The Wand®), more precise and painless than a conventional syringe.

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help the child relax.

General anesthesia when necessary for the treatment or situation.
